Quiet Baby & Paparazzi
I literally gave birth—I felt the baby in my belly and it kept moving around and hiding in corners. Surrounding my bed was a paparazzi of all the characters that have ever been in my dreams, and I kept screaming at them to leave. The doctor had no idea what he was doing. The baby just slid out of me and onto the table in a sac. There was no pain at all. The doctor cut the sac open and the baby was so incredibly quiet and small. The doctor looked at me staring at the still baby in the sac, a look that said—what are you waiting for?! “It can’t breathe until you cut it open,” he said. I remember, during the birth, my cervix inflated and popped down like a suction cup, and I FELT IT. Like a hollow cavity. With no guts but the baby.
